How Warts Spread

Warts are caused by the human papillomavirus. There are about a hundred different known types of this virus. The wart virus can be spread from one person to another. They are more common in kids than adults. Warts usually like to develop in warm, moist places of scratches and cuts. They are common on hands and feet. Usually warts are not painful, unless they are on places that are contacted often,  such as the soles of the feet.  Most people who get warts want to find a safe, painless way of wart removal.

The virus that causes warts can be spread by direct contact with someone who is infected or by coming in contact with an infected surface. Places such as public gyms or shower floors at public pools where people may walk barefoot can pass on the virus. It can also be transmitted by using a towel or other item previously used by someone with the virus. It is easier for a person to become infected with the human papillomavirus when they have a cut or scratch. The virus can also be transmitted by an infected person to another place on his or her body.  People who bite their nails may get warts easier than those who don’t because they open up areas on their skin for the virus to come in.

It is difficult to prevent someone from ever getting a wart. The best way to prevent warts is to eat healthy so that your immune system is strong. Another thing to do that could prevent warts is avoid physical contact with someone who is infected and wear shower shoes such as flip flops in public areas where others have walked barefoot. Don’t share towels or other objects with others even if they don’t have warts, they could still have the virus that causes warts.
