Have you ever heard of bilateral cingulotomy?

This is when a surgeon interrupts the pathway of the brain involved in the development of OCD.

Now a days they use what is called stereotactic radiosurgery or better known as a gamma knife.

What they do with the gamma knife is concentrate a bunch of radiation at the part of the brain that is involved with the development with OCD and damage it so that it cannot send signals.

Does this sound safe to you?

Not to me!

I think that there are so many ways for people to try to deal with OCD and some people with a lot of money find that it is easier to get under a knife or a gamma knife and try to buy their way out of OCD.

What’s sad is that it is just laziness. The real cure for OCD is not a gamma knife which can cause other problems which may or may not be able to be reversed, but also in the long run, I think it’s more wise and prudent to just do what it takes the old fashioned way to become OCD free. By doing the legwork it takes. You’ve got to face your fears, you’ve got to refuse to perform rituals, you’ve got to be persistent.

Under extremely rare conditions where a patient is suffering from more than just OCD and they have tried everything first for a long time with no results, then it may be worth a try with this surgery. But I would bet money that any person that doesn’t have any other illness besides OCD will never and should never use this surgery, period!
